The Sharan Project and His Holiness Radhanath Swami are holding an event to raise awareness on the impact of disownment and honour-based violence against women.
His Holiness Radhanath Swami, a world renowned author, philanthropic activist and spiritual teacher whom recently met with Barack Obama, has gracefully offered to conduct this talk for The Sharan Project. His Holiness has spoken at Harvard, Princeton, SOAS and LSE and most recently the Oxford Union. His Holiness is the inspiration behind ISKCON’s free mid-day meal for 1.2 million school kids across India. For the last 30 years and more he has created value for thousands of Indians by engaging tirelessly with secular society for the uplift of the poverty-stricken as well as for environmental issues. He is also author of the captivating yet moving biography ‘The Journey Home’.
The event will be on Thursday 3rd December at Asia House in Central London. Get your tickets here – Event Tickets
Radhanath Swami will speak about the impacts of disownment on women who flee home as a result of domestic violence. There are many reasons women leave home but prevalent issues are forced marriage, cultural conflict and honour based violence.
We hope that this talk will help people understand the cultural sensitivities and severe impacts this issue can have on women in the UK.
In the words of Radanath Swami:
“Where there is no inner freedom, there is no life.”
