The United Nations General Assembly adopted 11th October as the International Day of the Girl Child to recognise girl’s rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.

Whilst we celebrated the most gracious and inspiring, Malala Yousafzai win the Nobel Peace Prize yesterday, we also recognise that there is so much to do to help young girls across the globe. From lack of education, to forced marriages, honour killings, FGM and many more issues – we must pull together and equip them with skills, confidence, and life options: through family, schools, education and training, and health, social and economic support systems.

Our core focus is to empower, educate and inspire girls and women who want to learn about the support and choices that are available to them and provide tools to lead life on their own terms. To do this we must eliminate the various forms of violence girls face, such as forced marriages.

Let’s celebrate #DayOfTheGirl and work together to reach the same goal to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance rights and opportunities for girls everywhere.
