Sharan Project would like to wish you all a happy first ever ‘International Day of the Girl’ (11 October).

The day will promote girls’ human rights, highlight gender inequalities that remain between girls and boys and address the various forms of discrimination and abuse suffered by girls around the globe.

In light of the recent news brought to our attention in Pakistan, a 14 year old girl, Malala Yousafzai was shot down by the Taliban because of her courageous stance for girls right to education. This shows we must come together to protect girls and provide them with the facilities they need to become successful, independent women.

This is why we celebrate International Day of the Girl.
