Ranjeet’s Story
Ranjeet left home 3 years ago She was raised in a strict religious family and was not allowed to wear western clothes or further her education, she waited until her family were out and made her escape. She did not know where to turn and spent some time at a refuge after which she started her new life. Ranjeet felt isolated and suffered with depression as she felt there was no after care or support services that understood how difficult it is to adjust from a cultural upbringing to being on her own. One day Ranjeet found Sharan and spoke with an advisor who understood her anxiety and feelings of isolation, until now she felt she was alone. Sharan made some calls and arranged for some free cultural conflict counselling in her area and continues to support Ranjeet.
“I thought I was the only one, Sharan has helped me to realise I am not alone”
