Amina was 18 when she fell pregnant.
Her parents were not aware of her relationship with her non-Asian boyfriend as she feared they would not approve. She did not tell her parents she was pregnant until she was over 5 months as she knew they would insist on a termination.
Once she told them, they locked her in her room and told her that she could not leave until the child was born. This was to ensure no one else found out as they believed she would bring shame on the family.
Amina was held prisoner in her home for two months with little food and no contact with the outside world – until one day.
She managed to safely escape and went straight to the hospital, after that she went to stay with her boyfriend.
Amina gave birth to a little girl and they are both doing well.
